Barbados’ East coast is known for its rugged beaches with rough waves and unspoilt natural beauty. Nestled among all of this are a number of amazing restaurants ranging from roadside favorites to iconic locations steeped in history and tradition. Take a look at five of our must-try restaurants for when you’re touring the East coast.

Farm House Café at Peg Farm & Nature Reserve

The Farm House Café is a popular farm-to-table restaurant with several amazing vegan options made with delicious organic produce. Their menu also features free-range and grass fed meat raised at PEG farm.

Stop by for breakfast and get a taste of the plantain pancakes, eggs benedict, pulled pork and the corned beef that keeps regulars coming back.  For lunch try their pork chop slow braised in molasses and spice served with rosemary and garlic roast vegetables and sweet potato wedges, or their delicious burger.

Zemi East Coast Café

Zemi is located at the Hillcrest Community Center, overlooking Bathsheba. Showcasing Caribbean flavours fused with international influence, all made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients, Zemi is a great spot to relax and take in an amazing panoramic view of the East coast. Zemi East Coast Café is a must-visit destination for Barbadians and visitors alike to enjoy good food, cocktails and coffee.

Sand Dunes

The perfect stop for a cold drink and a delicious Bajan lunch. Sand Dunes is a popular local spot with a daily menu that features Bajan classics such as flying fish, Bajan beef stew, baked chicken, macaroni pie, sandwiches and their delicious fresh fish-off-the-grill. Stop by on Tuesdays and Fridays for breadfruit cou-cou with flying fish or grilled mahi mahi, and on Saturdays their pudding and souse always draws a crowd.

Atlantis Historic Inn

Known for their legendary Wednesday and Sunday lunch buffets, the Atlantis Historic Inn is a treasured Barbadian tradition. Their menu offers delectable local dishes prepared with a cool modern twist that have earned Atlantis its gilded reputation with locals.

Make sure to visit them for one of their famous lunch buffets every second and last Sunday of the month (every Sunday from Dec to Feb)—just be sure to reserve your table!

Round House

Round House has been a beloved seaside destination for locals and visitors for over 150 years. Their indoor and outdoor seating offers some of the best views of the East coast and overlooks one of the most popular surf breaks in the island.

Every month they have a moonrise dinner with live music and a spectacular view of the moon over the ocean. They also have a rotating selection of local art on sale.
