The Barbados Museum & Historical Society cordially invites you to the exhibition “Behind the Wire: Caribbean and Global Experiences of Internment 1914–1919.”
The exhibition offers an engaging look into the human stories and untold narratives connected to wartime internment in Barbados of German and Austrian civilians, as well as the internment of Barbadians and other British West Indian civilians in Germany and Austria during the First World War.
Behind the Wire is dedicated to the memory of more than one million civilians of all nationalities and colours who found themselves behind barbed wire during the First World War.
Visit the Barbados Museum to experience this compelling exhibition and to learn more about this significant chapter of our shared history.
