Ilaro Court, the official residence of the Prime Minister, is a dramatic Italianate villa designed by Lady Carter around a sunlit central courtyard and a Neptune guarded swimming pool, once the island's only private pool and famously used by the visiting Prince of Wales.
The house blends Edwardian, classical and Tudor details - oriel windows, carved coral stone benches, fine mahogany furnishings and striking artworks that together create an atmosphere of refined history and warm hospitality. Set in immaculately tended grounds with a secluded rock garden, gazebo and orchid house, Ilaro Court is both a stage for state entertaining and a peaceful place for discovery.
DIRECTIONS: At the Emancipation Statue (Bussa) roundabout turn towards Bridgetown. Shortly ahead, turn left into the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Conference Centre. Parking is at the right side of the building, and there is a walkway from there to Ilaro Court.
