Clifton Market's original little store on the south coast and their large store at Limegrove Lifestyle Centre on the west coast, are both well stocked. The Gourmet Shop, a west coast staple for over 30 years, offers superb, personalised service with a fine variety of quality groceries.  La Baguette is a great French bakery with branches on the south and west coasts.

Farmers’ Markets

With the pervading smell of freshly brewed coffee, the charm of the countryside Market at Brighton from 6-10 am on Saturday morning is undeniable.

There is a good selection of fruit and vegetables and a sophisticated array of owner run stalls selling freshly prepared delicious food and products of all kinds.

Stalls at Brighton Farmers' Market

Although fewer stalls, same is true of the Holders Farmers Market on Sunday morning at 9-12 am, conveniently located just off the west coast.

Hastings Farmers Market on the south coast in Hastings has a good selection of fruit and veggies. Market days are Wednesdays and Saturdays but they sell fresh produce on most days. Built in 1810 and brimming with authenticity, Cheapside Market doesn’t merely provide you with food, but with an experience of vitality.

There, you’re connected with the source of bounty and the people who bring it to you. Every purchase is a transaction with a person, and each has a comment or a story, if you’ve got the time. A few stall holders have bunches of medicinal bush tea and can tell you how to use them.

Vendors at Cheapside Market

You can find just about everything here, from salt-fish to bay leaves and spices; sticks of bitter, barely refined chocolate; bottles of shark oil, essences and local honey, Bajan seasoning and pepper sauces. For refreshment, sample the fresh juices or mauby. Don’t see them? Ask. It’s a good excuse to start a conversation!

Fish Markets

Fresh fish is really only available in fish markets. The largest are in Oistins and Bridgetown with others in Paynes Bay and Weston in St. James, Speightstown in St. Peter, Tent Bay in St. Joseph and Consett Bay in St. John.
